SMB, Alaska welcome return of ace players

MANILA, Philippines – San Miguel and Alaska welcome the return of their star players to active roster as the Motolite-Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Fiesta Cup reaches the halfway mark of the elimination round.

Danny Ildefonso, who has not played for quite some time, suits up finally for San Miguel as the former two-time most valuable player seeks to add the muscle needed to match Rain or Shine import Jai Lewis whom the Beermen battle Sunday.

Ildefonso, who went under the knife during the off-season, has not played for the team this conference and missed most of the Philippine Cup.

Despite his absence, San Miguel remained competitive and will stake its perfect 6-0 card against the Elasto Painters.

Meanwhile, Jeffrey Cariaso and Brandon Cablay will also return to active duty for the Aces, hoping that their presence could lift the team and help Alaska corner only its third win in eight games against Coca-Cola.

Cariaso has been on and off in the Aces’ lineup owing to a bad back, even missing some games of the Philippine Cup Finals against Talk `N Text.

Cablay was signed by the team at the start of the season-ending meet. – GMANews.TV
